Career Allsorts

Inspiring the curiosity and creativity of Primary students

ISV is inviting Primary Member Schools to take part in our inaugural Career Allsorts program during Term 3 and 4 in 2022.

This program encourages children’s curiosity and aims to broaden their horizons to learn about different jobs. We want to challenge gender stereotypes from a young age and give children greater access to different career role models.

Career Allsorts aims to encourage students to explore different opportunities available in a fun and engaging way. The program is adapted from the Drawing the Future report and Inspiring the future work. We want to spark career aspirations and open possibilities for children. There are two activities:

  1. Invite speakers from your parents and school community to talk to students about their career
  2. Ask students to draw or paint a job they would like to do when they are older.

Activity 1 – Invite speakers to share their career experience

This is a great activity to engage parents and the school community to talk about their jobs. Research highlights there is a need for greater access to career role models from a young age and that career education needs to start early. And remember, Teachers can also be included in the career line up!

Activity 2 – Ask students to draw or paint a job they would like to do when they are older

This involves students drawing or painting a picture of a job they would like to do when they are older. The drawing or painting can be any job the student desires and is not restricted to the jobs speakers talked about. Students may even create their own job! ISV will showcase the artwork in an exhibition that will take place in February 2023.
