Students with disability
ISV has undertaken a major research project on students with disability in its Member Schools.
Staff at Independent Schools Victoria, with Member Schools, have undertaken a major research project on the impact of the Australian Government’s Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) on students with disability.
The research was undertaken as we prepared a submission to an official review of government funding for students with disability.
It found that the NCCD has improved the ability of schools to identify all students with disability.
It also found, however, that the NCCD has imposed an onerous administrative burden on school staff, who are frustrated by complex red tape and a lack of clear information about processes and obligations. It calls on the government to clarify these processes, provide schools better information, and cut red tape.
Our review found the proportion of students with disability in Member Schools reflects the incidence of disability in the wider student population.
